Parish Council News

Parish Council Update
We met via zoom on Wed Apr 17th. Keith Brooks our treasurer provided us with donations reports for the 1st Quarter 2024 which is very similar to donations from 1st Quarter 2023. While we have received good income from rentals, pie sales and hospitality, our givings are still falling short of our monthly objective to reach our planned ministry for this year.

Reports were submitted from Social Services with updates on Country Terrace, Camp Huron, the Huron Farmworkers-Diocesan Project and Byron Northview projects. Camp Huron is looking for
specific art supplies and the Huron Farmworkers will be collecting clothing and supplies again this year.

Heavenly Pies continue to be an active and busy group. We continue to have the Northview students of Grades 3 & 4 come into the hall for a pie making experience and learning a bit about our
church. Please note that the Spring Sale will be held on Saturday May 11th. There is Pie and coffee time after the church service and blessing of the Gardens on May 26th at the Pollination Garden and the Greenhouse. Also of note will be our High Tea scheduled for June 9th!

Reports from the Pastoral Care team identified cards are being sent out to the homebound several times a year. In 2023 a total of 49 cards were sent to brighten peoples day and let them know we are thinking of them prayerfully.

The Sidespeople held their 34th Pancake Supper and a total of 246 meals were served. We have received a donation of Hymnals and BAS books from Trinity Anglican and we will be replacing any older damaged books in the pews.

The wardens advised that the sign is still a work in progress but we are advancing with the repairs and updates. We are in the process of finding a “Rental Agent Admin” to help with our rentals. We were unable to find a partner church or community to assist us with the Delaware Project so we will not be proceeding with this fundraiser. We have given it years of dedication and support and we thank everyone who contributed to its success.

We are patiently awaiting the Bishop's final decision on Canon Val’s full time position at St. Anne’s. We are very hopeful. Canon Val reviewed the upcoming 175th Tree project and gave us an update on the funds collected during Lent to support our ability to fund children to attend Camp Huron.

The Parish Council continues to work towards meeting our ministry goals that we as a parish set out at our last Vestry meeting. Thank you for your support!

Cathy, Warden
